<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic medium for treatment of a polymer-containing composite waste material and a method for treating the waste material that can recover a polymer at a high recovery by immersing a polymer-containing composite waste material in the organic medium comprising a hydrocarbon compound as the main component and removing a floating polymer. SOLUTION: Hydrocarbon compound of 100 pts.wt. is mixed with 5-60 pts.wt., preferably 10-50 pts.wt. solid particles having an average particle size of 10-1,000μm, preferably 20-100μm and a density of not less than 1.5 g/cm3 to produce an organic medium for treatment of a polymer-containing composite waste material having a density of not less than 1.2 g/cm3. The organic medium is heated and melted to a temperature of 200-400 deg.C, preferably 250-350 deg.C and thereafter a pulverized polymer-containing composite waste material is immersed in the organic medium for 0.5-30 min, preferably 1.5-15 min, whereby a polymer that is separated from the polymer-containing composite waste material and floats up on the liquid level of the organic medium is removed to recover the polymer. Besides, a metal or other inorganic materials that precipitate in the organic medium is also recovered.</p> |
