PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cable clamping device whereby a traction cable towing a carrier on a ropeway can be releasably anchored to a traveling machine. SOLUTION: A cable clamping device 20 comprises two cable clampers 20A, 20B. The socket 24 of the cable clamper 20A is formed with a tapered hole 24a and can be separated into an upper socket portion and a lower socket portion. In the tapered hole 24a of the socket 24, rubber sheets are sandwiched between four split pieces 30A, 30A,... of the same outer form and a traction cable 61 is caught in a cable clamping part and an inner cone 30 retained with retaining wheels is inserted in the tapered hole 24a. Further, the inner cone 30 is pressed toward a central axis by a push flange 32 having pressing means 40, 40,... and the traction cable 61 is clamped by the components of force thereof and anchored to a traveling machine 2. The pressing means 40, 40 are removed and the socket 24 and the inner cone 30 are separated to release anchoring.
