PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fading substrate capable of producing inexpensively and stably, by a simple method, a patterning controlled in the nice difference of various functions such as permeability, reflectivity, a hue or the like to a part of the colored metal oxide film formed on the surface of a transparent substrate. SOLUTION: A fading soln. prepared by adding a fading agent to a solvent is applied to a part of the colored metal oxide film formed on the surface of a transparent substrate and the coating layer is baked to form a fading film part having visible light permeability larger than that of the colored metal oxide film but smaller than that of the substrate itself to a part of the colored metal oxide film.
