PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely sense the presence or absence of seedlings by preventing an up-moving sensor from pushing up the seedlings and from moving up even if the seedlings sent in the longitudinal direction are weak and light seedlings such as a rolled seedling when the seedling sensor having the sensor for sensing the presence or absence of the seedlings, moving upper and lower, senses the seedlings in a seedling-transplanting machine longitudinally sending the mat- shaped seedlings on a seedling-carrying platform to a seedling-taking-out side. SOLUTION: A seedling sensor 56 for sensing the presence or absence of seedlings by moving a sensor 56b upper and lower is installed in a seedling- carrying platform 9 in a seedling-transplanter, and an upper movement- controlling body 57 for controlling the upper movement of the sensor 56b by pushing up the mat-shaped seedlings by keeping contact with the mat-shaped seedlings from the upper direction, at the upper position of the seedling sensor 56.
