PURPOSE: A magnetic resistance device using shortly pitched winding and a drive for the device are provided to present self-inductance of phase windings, combination of the self-inductance and mutual-inductance between the phase windings and output torque generated from the mutual-inductance. CONSTITUTION: A magnetic resistance device(30) using shortly pitched winding comprises plural stator(32) defining plural poles, a rotor(34) defining plural rotor poles, and plural phase windings(A,B,C) disposed within the stator. At least one phase winding is a shortly pitched coil. A power drive comprises a magnetic resistance device having plural phase windings containing plural shortly pitched coils, and plural outputs electrically connected to the phase windings of the magnetic resistance device. The respective output is connected to four power switches.
