摘要 PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for controlling tracking in optical disk driving system is provided to greatly decrease an overshoot and an access time by suitably controlling both a movement of an optical head with reference to a moving speed and a position of the optical head. CONSTITUTION: A tracking error signal generating unit(110) collects a light reflected from an optical disk(1) to generate a tracking error signal(TE). A data signal generating unit(120) collects a light reflected from the optical disk(1) to generate a data signal(RF). A tracking error signal binary unit compares the tracking error signal inputted from a subtracter(111) of the tracking error signal generating unit(110) with 0 level to generate '0' or '1'. The tracking error signal binary unit compares a data signal inputted from an adder(121) of the data signal generating unit(120) with a certain level to generate '0' or '1'. A first compensator(151) receives the tracking error signal(TE) and compensates the received tracking error signal(TE) according to all disturbances occurred in the optical disk(1). A second compensator(152) receives the tracking error signal(TE) and relatively emphasizes a lag compared with a frequency characteristic of the first compensator(151) to compensate the tracking error signal(TE).
