PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper remaining amount detection device of a paper feeding device capable of detecting a remaining amount of paper at a plurality of levels and detecting the presence or absence of paper accurately by a simple configuration. SOLUTION: Actuators 8, 9 can turn centered on shafts 8c, 9c, respectively, by attaching sensor pieces 8a, 9a provided so as to come into contact with a top face of a sheet 1 and light shielding pieces 8b, 9b for shielding between a light emitting part and a light receiving part of photosensors 6, 7 to the shafts 8c, 9c. The light shielding pieces 8b, 9b of the actuators 8, 9 oppose mutually and are arranged in such a way that loci at the time of turn are overlapped partially, and the photosensors 6, 7 are arranged on the overlapped loci. Since a plurality of forms for light shielding of the photosensors 6, 7 by means of the light shielding pieces 8b, 9b are formed, the presence or absence and a remaining amount of the sheet 1 in a paper supply cassette 3 can be detected by the light shielding forms.
