PURPOSE: An apparatus and a methode for saving power in a remote controller are provided to save a predetermined power of a remote controller by intercepting the predetermined power. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus and a methode for saving power in a remote controller comprises a timer(6), a memory(3), a controller(2), and a switching device(7). The timer counts a time. The memory stores an input key data by a user, a predetermined time and a maximum time to determine a malfunction. The controller outputs a control signal for transmitting an infrared signal according to a determined key and a control signal for intercepting a predetermined power from a power supply(4) to a key outputting device(5). The switching device provides or intercepts the predetermined power from the power supply to the key outputting device according to the control signal.
