PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably pump up a fluid without pulsation by forming a pocket for connecting deepest gear connecting areas of spur gears to an outlet port or an inlet port, in at least one axial direction sealing surface zone adjacent to a seal land of a sealing surface area. SOLUTION: Two spur gears 6, 11 are rotatably attached on a casing part 1 of an external gear pump at intervals, and are engaged with each other by those gears 7, 12. A fluid inlet port 3 is formed on an engaging zone of the spur gears 6, 11 at one side surface of a pair of the spur gears 6, 11, and a pump outlet port 4 is formed on a side surface of a pair of spur gears arranged on a side opposite to the port 3. The spur gear 11 is rotatably attached between two cylindrical bodies (pistons) 14, 15 on a journal 13. In an axial direction sealing surface area, a pocket 22 for connecting deepest gear connecting zones of the spur gears 6, 11 to an outlet port 4 or an inlet port 3 is formed so as to guarantee discharge of a fluid without pulsation.
