PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a counterweight and to make it lightweight without reducing the loading capability of a vehicle by forming an outer plate forming the rear face of the weight thicker in thickness than the outer plates at other portions in the loaded state on the vehicle. SOLUTION: An outer plate 12a forming a rear face within the outer plates 12 forming a weight outer shape is formed thicker in thickness than the outer plates 12 at other portions. The rear face of the counterweight is formed with the thick outer plate 12a, thus the center of gravity position of the whole weight can be set backward. When the center of gravity position of a canned counterweight 11 is set backward, the center of gravity position of the whole vehicle is moved backward that much, thus resulting in an increase of a loading capability. If the loading capability is set constant, the canned counterweight 11 can be miniaturized that much, and it can be made lightweight by miniaturization.
