PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To normally deliver a paper to a proper delivery destination without any error by controlling paper delivery by means of a CPU while allotting a physical paper-handling optical unit which can deliver the paper normally to a designation for a virtual paper-handling option unit. SOLUTION: After an image based on print information received by a host computer 3000 via a communications medium 12 is printed to a recording medium, the recording medium is delivered via a paper-handling option unit (option delivery tray or the like) in a printer 1000. The printer has an external memory 14 for storing the print information sent from the host. The CPU 12 allots a virtual paper-handling option unit in the print information stored in the external memory 14 with reference to an allot table whose setting can be changed beforehand, and controls the allotted paper-handling option unit to deliver the recording medium.
