PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable and convenient cigarette butt container having a simple construction. SOLUTION: This cigarette butt container 10 is provided by installing a lid body 30 capable of opening and closing the open mouth part 10a of the container 10 through a hinge part 20 as freely openable and closable at the container 10 for housing cigarette butts, and also a magnet 31 on the circumference of the opening mouth part of the container or the lid part, capable of effecting an absorbing force between them. Further, in the container 10, a stopper (a sliding body) 40 capable of latching with the lid body 30 at its advancing position to prohibit the opening of the lid body, is installed mechanically freely shidably and also a lift lever 50 which is operated in an inclining movement when the sliding body is in its retreating position, for drawing apart the lid body adsorbed with the above magnet by bringing up the edge part of the lid body by the above inclining movement, is installed.
