PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject aquarium designed to obviate such problems that, conventionally, a hose pump is placed in an aquarium from above to suck out, together with water, fish excreta and residual baits, etc., accumulated in the bottom sand in order to improve water quality in the aquarium by periodically replacing fresh water for existing water in view of the fact that water quality deterioration is inevitable due to such contaminants as mentioned above in association with raising tropical fish or the like in an aquarium; however, the above practice requires much labor and long time and inflicts stress upon the fish as well. SOLUTION: This aquarium is so designed that, a drain port is provided on the lower part thereof and the water therein is discarded via the drain port, thereby obviating the necessity of using any hose pump; furthermore, a meshed matting is placed on the bottom surface of the aquarium instead of bottom sand, thereby enabling sedimented contaminants such as fish excreta and residual baits to be discharged via the drain port.
