PURPOSE: A method for operating a quick paging channel is provided to store a paging message for transmitting from a base station to multi queues by a mobile station arranging according to slots, and to control composition or operation of a quick paging channel according to whether the stored paging message exists. CONSTITUTION: A method for operating a quick paging channel using multi queues in a mobile communication system with CDMA(Cord Division Multiple Access), comprises the steps of: deciding an overload state of a paging channel by examining currently using numbers of queues; storing paging messages of all paging channels according to slots of multi queues, when the paging channel is not the overload state; finding the slots of the paging messages through a hash function; deciding whether the paging messages exist by searching queues corresponding to the found slots; transmitting the quick paging channel to the mobile station before the paging messages are transmitted, when the paging messages exist; transmitting the quick paging channel to the mobile station before the paging messages are transmitted, when the paging messages does not exist, by composing the quick paging channel for informing that the paging messages does not exist.
