PURPOSE: An information processing apparatus is provided to generate a pattern of a high grace easily by reducing the data amount and the data drawing step number necessary to generate painted patterns. CONSTITUTION: In an information processing apparatus generating a pattern of a character comprising a symbol and a drawing symbol, according to element shape information indicating a frame shape and a layout shape of a constituent element which consists of the character and letter frame shape information indicating a frame shape of the character, the constituent element is drawn. The constituent elements thus drawn are combined so as to generate a pattern of the character.
