PURPOSE: An apparatus and the method for option/transition of a battery's charging mode is provided to selectively charge, by limiting the charging/discharging number of times of a battery, following a method for immediately charging when the battery is inserted in an adapter. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for option/transition of a battery's charging mode comprises: a micom for checking the charging amount of each battery when a battery is inserted in a power supply connector for charging, and generating/outputting a control signal of a selective charge to control the selective charge corresponding to unconditional charge of the battery, according to an operating mode of a current system; a charging section for performing the battery charge in the regular amount, according to the control signal; a selection charging section for comparing the charging amount of the battery with the value of set voltage by the control signal of the selective charge, and selectively charging/blocking the charge according to the comparing result.
