PURPOSE: A method for selectively hydrogenation of hydroformylated mixture is provided, which converts formates into alcohols, does not hydrogenate the unreacted olefin, and is carried out in relatively mild condition, especially at low pressure. CONSTITUTION: The reaction mixture obtained from the hydroformylation of olefin of C5-24 is selectively hydrogenated by using a support catalyst which contains copper, nickel and chromium as an active component at high temperature and high pressure to produce the desired alcohol. Preferably the support catalyst contains 0.3-15 wt% of copper, 0.3-15 wt% of nickel, 0.05-3.5 wt% of chromium, and optionally 0.01-1.6 wt% of alkali metals. The support catalyst is preferably silicon dioxide or aluminum oxide. The catalyst component is homogeneously distributed in the pore or edge of the support catalyst. |
