摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve resistance to scratch resistance to friction and lubricating property by eliminating adhesion or adhering of scum in a heat sensitive recording head or the like without deteriorating transparency as well as glossiness by a method wherein a protecting layer is formed by employing at least a long-chain alkyl ether modified polyvinyl alcohol. SOLUTION: At least about 80 wt.% or more of a protecting layer of long- chain alkyl ether modified polyvinyl alcohol or alkyl ether modified polyvinyl alcohol having the number of carbon atoms of a degree of 8-20 is contained in the protecting layer provided on the substrate of a heat sensitive recording material together with a heat sensitive recording layer. When the containing amount is about 50 wt.% or less, the characteristics, brought by the long-chain alkyl ether modified polyvinyl alcohol, can not be developed sufficiently. The long-chain alkyl group is easily oriented on the surface of the protecting layer, thus formed, whereby faulty printing is eliminated by the reduction of kinetic friction of a heat sensitive head and the smoothness (glossiness) as well as the color development density of a printing surface can be improved.
