PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal recording medium in which both blushing of a texture in the environment at high temperature and deterioration with aging of recording density are little and also chemical resistance of a plasticizer or alcohol, etc. is equipped by utilizing color reaction of both colorless or light- colored basic dye and a coloring agent. SOLUTION: In the thermal recording medium, a recording layer containing both colorless or light-colored basic dye and a coloring agent is provided on a supporting body. In this case, at least one kind of fluoran derivatives shown in a general formula is used as basic dye in the recording layer and 2,4-bis(phenyl sulfonyl)phenol is used as the coloring agent. (In formula, R1 and R2 show 1-6C alkyl group, 5-6C cycloalkyl group or tolyl group. R1 and R2 may form heterocyclic ring together with adjacent nitrogen atom.
