PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a styrene resin foam having a fine and uniform bubble-structure using an incombustible volatile foaming agent harmless to the environment. SOLUTION: A manufacturing method is comprised of injecting and mixing a volatile foaming agent (e.g. 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane, etc.), into a melted styrene resin at a pressure not less than 30 MPa (e.g. about 30-45 MPa) followed by foaming with extruding the melted mixture. The preparation method otherwise may foam either with extruding the pressurized melted mixture under a pressure at 15-30 MPa or with extruding the melted mixture under an atmospheric pressure. The amount of the volatile foaming agent used may be about 0.1-30 pts.wt. to 100 pts.wt. of the styrene resin.
