SAFETY DEVICE FOR ELEVATOR DOORWAY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety device at elevator doorway capable of being attached to an existing elevator by arranging a light projecting element and a light receiving element of an optical sensor. SOLUTION: A light projecting element 2a and a light receiving element 2b of an optical sensor are arranged in such a manner that a front column open end part 12c opposes to a car door 1d in a section where it does not oppose to the car door 1d in the direction of car depth or the car door 1d in the section across a doorway opening 1b in a space between a cage 1a and the car door 1d when the car door 1d is opened and closed. Consequently, an optical sensor can be installed so far as there is a clearance between a front column 1c and the car door 1d in which an optical axis 2c can be formed between both elements and can be installed in an existing elevator.
