PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress displacement of an end part on the opposite side to a cross needle and to prevent deterioration in positioning precision so as to improve printing quality by pressing one end part of a paper sheet by means of a pressing roller when the other end part is pulled toward a lateral adjuster side by means of the cross needle. SOLUTION: Sheets S are conveyed one by one from a separator 5 onto a feeder board 6 via a clamping roller and a feeding roller 8. When the conveyed sheet S collides against a front adjuster 11 and stopped, one end part of the sheet 2 is pulled to the lateral adjuster 13 side by means of a vertical roller 16 in a cross needle 12 and the like. In this process, the other end part of the sheet 2 positioned on the opposite side to the cross needle 12 is pressed between an upper pressing roller 14 and a lower pressing roll for suppressing displacement in the vertical direction. Therefore, the sheet 2 is brought into contact with the lateral adjuster 13 by means of the cross needle 12 without deflecting in the vertical direction, and the lateral directional position of the sheet 2 is aligned, so that lateral directional positioning in printing can be accomplished.
