PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain dispersion of transportation and to form a good image at an accurate position on a recording material by providing a plurality of abutment means for abutting a recording material transported on a transportation passage. SOLUTION: Pre-resist rollers 53A, 53B as first abuttment means are constituted with a pair of facing rollers, are not rotated when a recording material is transported, and stops the tip of recording paper. After that, the pre-resist rollers 53A, 53B start rotation to re-transport the recording paper, and thereby an accurate timing of the tip of the recording paper can be determined. Resist rollers 56 as second abuttment means are constituted with a pair of facing rollers, are not rotated when a recording material is transported, and stops the tip of recording paper. After that, the resist rollers 56 start rotation to re-transport the recording paper. Thus, an accurate timing of the tip of the recording paper can be determined, and dispersion of transportation can be restrained.
