PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an inexpensive excrementitious matter-absorbing material for pets having excellent urine-absorbing, mass-forming and deodorizing abilities, good in handleability and maintaining clean feeling by reusing paper making sludge which is a waste product and provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This production of excrementitious matter-absorbing material for pets is to crush paper making sludge having approximately 50 % moisture content to form nucleus granules, spray citric acid to the surface of the nucleus granules to impregnate the circuit acid into the granules, adjust the moisture content at the same time, then, transfer the nucleus granules onto an excrementitious matter-absorbing material which is a powdery mixture comprising bentonite (100 pts.wt.), powdery paper (10 pts.wt.) and starch (5.5 wt.%), uniformly coat the granules on the surface of the absorbing material to form a coated layer of the absorbing material, successively spray and impregnate a surfactant solution and a glycerol solution in order to the coated layer of the absorbing material and dry to obtain granules of the excrementitious matter-absorbing material.
