PURPOSE: A lithium secondary battery and an active material for lithium secondary battery cathode are provided to realize high discharge capacitance and high initial efficiency. CONSTITUTION: An active material for lithium secondary battery cathode consists of silicon powder containing boron. The contents of the boron in the silicon powder is 0.1-50 weight %. The accumulated diameter of the active material is 1-100 micro meter. A lithium secondary battery contains anode active material, cathode active material and nonaqueous electrolyte. The cathode active material consists of carbon powder containing boron, and silicon powder containing boron. The contents of the boron in the silicon powder is 0.1-50 weight %.
