PURPOSE: A method for producing phenyl malonate halide is provided by which phenyl malonate halide can be obtained in good yield. CONSTITUTION: A dialkyl phenyl malonate of formula 1 is obtained by reacting a phenylbromide of formula 2 with a dialkyl malonate of formula 3 in the ratio of 1 to 2-4 in the presence of a base such as a sodium, hydride and a copper salt in solvent selected from the group consisting of diethyl ether, diisopropyl ether, tert-butyl methyl ether, 2,2-dimethoxy propane, diethoxy ethane, tetrahydrofuran, tetrahydropyran, dioxane, and mixture thereof. In formula 1, 2 and 3, L1 and L2 are a fluoride or a chloride, independently; R1 is hydrogen, halogen, alkyl group or alkoxy group; and R is alkyl group.
