PURPOSE: A method for upgrading a control program of an image communication equipment is provided to automatically upgrade user's the image communication equipment at a service center via a data communication. CONSTITUTION: A method for upgrading a control program of an image communication equipment includes eight steps. A first step is to perform a call connection with an image communication equipment which is an object for upgrading. A second step is to transmit a sound message to a receiving system which is an object for upgrading by a transmitting system called a telephone, thereby, informing under performance of a upgrade procedure and connect an image communication of a transmitting system and a receiving system. A third step is to transmit a control program download mode control signal to the receiving system by the transmitting system and receive the control signal to transform into a system management mode. A fourth step is to transmit a control program version of the present system to the transmitting system. A fifth step is to compare the control program version with the latest version. A sixth step is to inform that a upgrading is not necessary to the receiving system when the control program version is the latest version, and transmit a control program intend to transmit to the receiving system when the control program version is not the latest version. A seventh step is to transmit a control signal informing that the control program is completely received to the transmitting system, finish a communication, and reset the system when the control program is all received completely. An eighth-step is to finish the communication when a control signal informing that is normally received is received.
