AUTOTHERMAL REFORMING PROCESS OF HYDROCARBON SUPPLY SOURCE CONTAINING HIGHER HYDROCARBON

PURPOSE: An auto thermal reforming process of a hydrocarbon supply source containing higher hydrocarbon is provided to prepare gas rich in hydrogen and/or carbon monoxide without the generation of soot. CONSTITUTION: Gas rich in hydrogen and/or carbon monoxide is prepared by passing the hydrocarbon supply source through a reactor containing a steam reforming catalyst to remove or reduce the amount of higher hydrocarbon in the hydrocarbon supply source; and passing the effluent of the step through auto thermal reforming reactor. The hydrocarbon supply source is preferably a natural gas and/or a gas assembly. The reactor of the first step is operated adiabatically and the outlet temperature of the reactor is less than 600°C.
