PURPOSE: A decomposition method of bromic acid in liquid is provided which decomposes bromate ions in the liquid by using photocatalyst effectively and stably. CONSTITUTION: Liquid contacts with photocatalyst and the radiation which has energy no less than band gap of the photocatalyst is irradiated to decompose bromate ions. The equipment of the photocatalytic reaction comprises the first chamber(11) which decomposes bromate ions in the liquid and in the first chamber, there are photocatalyst for contacting with liquid, magnetic stirrer(13), light source(14) for irradiating the radiation which has the energy no less than band gap of the photocatalyst when the liquid contacts the photocatalyst to produce the photocatalytic reaction, and the tube(15) to protect the light source. The photocatalyst can contain at least one metal oxide which has the electron captivity no more than the electron captivity of titanium, and in that case, pH of the liquid does not need to be controlled before or after the photocatalytic reaction.
