JUNCTION BOX OF OPTICAL FIBER AND METALLIC CORE WIRE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an increase in damage or loss and the occurrence of break age of wire on an optical fiber caused by a contact with a metallic core wire without having an adverse effect on the optical fiber and an optical signal- electric signal converter even if water enters a junction box through within a metal cable. SOLUTION: This junction box is provided with a case 1 on the body side and a case 3 on the lid side hingedly connected with each other and capable of opening and closing. The case 1 on the body side involves leading parts 9A, 9B for optical fiber, an optical fiber storing part 11 storing the connecting part and the remaining length of the optical fiber, and a converter storing part 13 storing an optical signal electric signal converter. The case 3 on the lid side involves leading parts 15A-15C for metallic core wire, and a metallic core wire storing part 17 storing the connecting part and the remaining length of the metallic core wire. An inner lid is attached and a water proofing means is provided for the metallic core wire storing part 17 so as not to leak water to the outside.
