PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain efficient dynamic braking for a DC motor supporting servo- loop control. SOLUTION: This method employs a combination of a technique in which a counter torque signal supplied to a standard motor controller MC4 reverses armature current for braking start, and a technique in which a dissipative load R5 is switched between a DC voltage bus and the ground, and regenerative current dissipates with the deceleration of a motor M3. As braking operation continues, a logic 6 permits the dissipative load R5 to be switched so as to be repeatedly connected or disconnected with/from the circuit whenever voltage on the DC voltage bus caused by regenerative current exceeds a selected threshold value. During a controlled period, hysteresis is applied to keep a current flow, thereby conducting pulse width modulation of this switching operation.
