发明名称 POLARIZER AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE USING THE POLARIZER
摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a display hardly visible except from the front of a display screen and to permit the formation of documents while maintaining confidentiality even in a public space by providing a guest-host type liquid crystal composition with an electric field forming means for forming electric fields in the direction nearly parallel with a first substrate and a second substrate. SOLUTION: A polarizing plate 11 of an intra-surface switching system is formed by subjecting a polarizer on the front side of the substrate 111 to a homogeneous alignment treatment in the same direction as the direction of the axis of polarization of the polarizer and forming ITO electrodes 114 on the opposite substrate 112 surface and guest-host type liquid crystals 9 sealed with dye-contg. liquid crystal materials are used therebetween. The guest-host type liquid crystals 9 are subjected to a lapping treatment of 0 deg. and the liquid crystals 8 of the display element are subjected to a lapping treatment of 90 deg.. When voltage is impressed to both of the liquid crystals 8 of the display element and the guest-host type liquid crystals 9, the arraying direction of the guest-host type liquid crystals 9 changes and the state as if the axis of polarization of the polarizing plate 11 deviates counterclockwise is attained and the contrast of the display may be degraded.
