PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the degradation in contrast by a black relief by applying a projection type display device to a projector device which projects the video light subjected to space modulation by, for example, a reflection type liquid crystal panel onto a screen. SOLUTION: Phase differences are regulated by turning phase difference plates 31B, 31R, 31G at the time of arranging the phase difference plates 31B, 31R, 31G set in the delay quantity generated between ordinary rays and extraordinary rays so as to negate the delay quantity obtained by adding the delay quantity by color separating and synthesizing means 21B, 21R to the delay quantity corresponding to the quarter wave of the incident light by at least a polarization beam splitter 11. |
