PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize the constitution of a circuit in accordance with the transfer capacity of a connected destination and to reduce the power consumption. SOLUTION: The data transfer device consists of two nodes 1 and 2 and a bus 7 is connected between the 1st and 2nd nodes 1 and 2. The 1st node 1 is provided with a detection circuit 3 for detecting the maximum transfer capacity of the connected node, at least two receiving circuits 4 for receiving data and a control circuit 5 for optimizing the constitution of the receiving circuits 4 so as to select one of the circuits 4 based on an output signal from the circuit 3 and stop the remaining receiving circuit 4. The 2nd node 2 is provided with an information circuit 8 for informing of its own maximum transfer capacity and a transmission circuit 9.
