PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switch improved in assembly, by providing a projecting part and an air escape part on an inner bottom part of an insulator and providing a hole in a metallic plate and one in a movable contact part for fitting them to the projecting part. SOLUTION: This rotary switch is equipped with an insulator 1 having a recessed part 11 comprising an inner circumferential wall 14 and an inner bottom part 15, fixed contact parts 16 provided on the inner bottom part 15 of the recessed part 11 and extending to the exterior of the insulator 1, a movable contact part 2 provided in a position capable of contacting the fixed contact parts 16, and a rotor 5 rotatably mounted in the recessed part 11 and, as it rotates, causing individual contacts 25a to 25e of the movable contact part 2 to contact each of the fixed contact parts 16. The recessed part 11 has a projecting shaft part 21 projecting upwardly from the inner bottom part 15, and the projecting shaft part 21 passes through the movable contact part 2, reaches the rotor 5, and supports the rotor 5 so as to allow it to rotate around the projecting shaft part 21.
