PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pattern recognizing device capable of keeping the accuracy of pattern recognition higher than a fixed value. SOLUTION: A pattern recognizing device 1 is provided with a collation pattern acquiring part 11, recognition pattern holding part 12, statistical stochastic density processing part 13, division rule estimation processing part 14 and recognized result processing part 15. The probability density statistical processing part 13 calculates the estimate value of probability density to a collation pattern to become a recognition object based on plural recognition patterns in the recognition pattern holding part 12 and statistically analyzes the error between the relevant estimate value and the true value of the probability density. The division rule estimation processing part 14 estimates the optimum division rules in a feature space for discriminating the propriety of the collation pattern based on the analyzed result. The recognized result processing part 15 outputs the recognized result by discriminating the propriety of the collation pattern based on the estimated division rules.
