PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper money discriminating device that improves a discrimination rate by detecting a watermark design with an artificial retina sensor camera together with a discriminating means of an optical and magnetic sensor for the conventional discrimination. SOLUTION: A detection signal from an artificial retina sensor camera 1 detecting the watermark design 102a of a paper money 102 and detection signals from a magnetic sensor 109 detecting that printing is performed in ink including magnetic substance and an optical sensor 107 detecting a colored print pattern are transmitted to a reading circuit 2 and the circuit 2 discriminates whether the paper money 102 is authentic or not. That is, a discrimination rate is increased by using the watermark design 102a for a discrimination means.
