PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a measuring method in which an SOD-like substance contained in a crude drug can be quantitatively determined with high accuracy. SOLUTION: A superoxide anion radical is generated by the reaction of a nicotineamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate reduction type with 1-methoxy-5- phenazine methyl sulfide. Then, a chemiluminescence quantity which is chemiluminescence-reacted by adding a luminous substance to the superoxide anion radical is compared with a chemiluminescence quantity which is reduced according to the superoxide anion radical decomposed by adding a crude drug or a crude drug which contains a superoxide dismutase(SOD)-like substance. Then, how much the SOD-like substance exists in the crude drug is judged.
