PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To disable another client to access a scanner when a certain client continues a session with the scanner while using a connectionless protocol for the transmission of a control packet to the scanner on a network. SOLUTION: A connection-oriented protocol is used for transmitting data obtained by a scanner. When connection is set up, information for identifying a client 12 executing the connection is recorded. When a control packet to be a connectionless protocol is applied and the control packet has a content to instruct to carry out some status change, the control packet is not received except that the client 2 having the current connection coincides with a transmission source of the control packet.
