PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the correction device for a chrominance signal that enhances image quality without a side effect of deteriorated S/N by restoring a high frequency component of a monochromatic signal being a red signal or a blue signal including a high frequency component lost by coding of the NTSC system or the PAL system even in the case of the monochromatic signal of the red signal or the blue signal where the original color signal includes the high frequency component. SOLUTION: A filter 3 extracts a high frequency component of a luminance signal Y, a variable gain amplifier 4 controls a gain of the high frequency component, a 1st adder 8 adds an amplified high frequency component to a chrominance signal I to correct the chrominance signal I, a divider 11 divides a chrominance signal Q by the chrominance signal I to obtain a hue signal Q/I, a multiplier 12 multiplies the amplified high frequency component with the hue signal and a 2nd adder 14 adds the high frequency component multiplied with the hue signal to the chrominance signal Q to correct it.
