PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent destruction of information and to enhance reliability by providing a slider, which is loaded with a probe for recording or reproducing information, with a projection so that the slider can avoid colliding with an area for recording or reproducing information. SOLUTION: Plural information tracks t1-t7 are arranged on the recess 5h of a disk 5 and are protected by a projection 5f. An optical probe 7a is movably controlled in the x and y directions with an actuator 8. With dust or the like entering a gap between a probe slider 9 and a disk 5, causing collision, the projection 5f prevents the bottom of the probe slider 9 from coming into contact with the area of the information tracks t1-t7, protecting data from being destructed by the collision. A substrate 5d is formed so that a difference in level between the recess 5h and the projection 5f is not more than a distance which evanescent light reaches, i.e., about a few ten nm's, thereby enabling information recording/reproduction on the recess 5h by using the evanescent light. |
