PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power converter which hardly causes a switching loss and, accordingly, does not generate much heat. SOLUTION: The electric current flowing to a semiconductor switching element 21 suppresses the voltage rising rates of semiconductor switching elements 21 and 22, because the current shifts to a snubber capacitor 51 to gradually charge the capacitor 51 and discharge another snubber capacitor 52. No turning-on loss occurs in the switching element 21, because a diode 22a is conducted by the energy stored in a smoothing reactor 31 during a period, after the voltage at the switching element 22 becomes zero, and, while the diode 22a is conducted, the switching element 22 is turned on.
