PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ultrasonic wave probe having enhanced reception accuracy by applying adequate shielding to the probe. SOLUTION: The ultrasonic wave probe is provided with a piezoelectric element 1, where a grounding electrode is formed on one major side which is a wave transmission reception face and a signal application electrode is formed on the other major side, a cylindrical case 2 that supports an outer circumferential end of the piezoelectric element 1, and a line connecting to the grounding electrode and the signal application electrode and leading externally. A shield electrode connected to the grounding electrode of the piezoelectric element 1 is formed on an outer surface of the cylindrical case 2.
