PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide trace information necessary for inspection of a program in real time by using a CPU chip which has the same inner structure and the same number of terminals with those of a mounted one. SOLUTION: In this program inspection method, when a target program is executed and a value of a PC 15a supplied by a CPU 15 coincides with trigger addresses TC1 and TC2 stored in trigger register addresses 27 and 28, a trace detection part 21 acquires only specified trace information on the basis of trace conditions TC1 and TC2 stored in corresponding trace condition registers 25 and 26. Since a trace buffer control part 23 temporarily stores a trace packet generated by the trace information from the trace detection part 21 in a trace buffer 17 and a trace data output part 24 reads the trace information from the trace buffer 17 and supplies an emulator 13 with it, the emulator 13 stores the trace information in a trace memory 13a.
