PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a device compact and easy to carry and to allow an individual to easily carry it for performing panoramic image pickup. SOLUTION: Inside a first holding part 31a of a housing 31, a printed circuit board 34 where a linear image pickup element 32, a drive circuit, an A/D conversion circuit and an image processing circuit, etc., are mounted, a storage device 35, a battery 36 and a lens system 37 for a finder are housed. Also, an image pickup lens 33 and a liquid crystal display device 38 are attached to the side part of the first holding part and a drive motor 41 and a connection part 43 for mechanically connecting an external rack 42 and the rotary shaft of the drive motor are housed inside the second holding part 31b of the housing. Thus, by the rotation of the driving motor, the housing is rotated and the panoramic image pickup is made possible.
