PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the increase of the recovered amount of toner and contamination by a cloud toner inside an image forming device by partially sticking toner in a specified timing while changing a place in the axial direction of an image carrier. SOLUTION: Toner patches for automatic density control 80 and 87 are formed in an interimage area between the paper passing parts of 1st transfer paper and 2nd transfer paper on the surface of a photoreceptor drum every ten sheets of transfer paper. Toner patches 81 to 86 are partially stuck in the specified timing while changing the place in the axial direction of the photoreceptor drum in an area between the paper passing pats of the photoreceptor drum in the midst of image forming operation. Thus, the consumption of the toner is made smaller then in the conventional manner in which a toner band is formed, and a situation that the recovered amount of toner in a cleaning device gets large or the inside of the device is soiled by the cloud toner is prevented. And also, the toner is prevented from being consumed much unwillingly.
