PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a camera compact by disposing a cushioning mechanism provided in a driving mechanism for a lens barrier protecting the photographing lens of the camera in the recessed part of dead space formed between a fixed barrel and a film housing chamber with respect to a camera main body in the driving mechanism for the lens barrier. SOLUTION: As for this lens barrier device, the cushioning mechanism 58 provided in the driving mechanism 50 for an inner barrier 10 protecting the photographing lens of the camera is disposed in the recessed part 15 of the dead space formed between the fixed barrel 14 and the film housing chamber 16 in the camera main body 12. The mechanism 58 is constituted of a linear motion mechanism and disposed along the recessed part 15.
