PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress mechanical damage such as a crack by forming cavities in external layers to relax stresses which influence the main body of an electronic component through external electrodes. SOLUTION: Main body 15 of an electronic component is divided into an internal member 16 which is located in the middle part with respect to the laminating direction, and external members 17 which sandwich the internal member 16, wherein internal electrodes 18 are formed in the internal member 16 as internal conductors. Connecting to the internal electrodes, external terminal electrodes 20 are formed on edge planes 19 of the main body 15 of the electronic component. The external terminal electrodes 20 are formed by putting a conductive paste on the edge planes 19 and being fired so that they extend to parts of the main planes 12 and to parts of the side planes neighboring the edge planes 19. In addition, cavities are formed in the external members 17 to relax stresses which influence the main body 15 of the electronic component through the external terminal electrodes 20.
