ELECTRIC DOUBLE LAYER CAPACITOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a capacitor having low inner resistance and large capacitance per unit volume. SOLUTION: A separator, which is composed of paper formed by using at least 50 wt.% of fiber formed by beating regenerated cellulose fiber, is arranged between a positive electrode and a negative electrode which are constituted of carbonaceous electrodes. The separator is impregnated with a nonaqueous electrolyte, using triethyl monomethyl ammonium tetrafluoroborate as the solute. It is preferable that the thickness of the separator be 20-60μm and that the density be 0.30-0.60 g/cm3.
