PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an error recovery system capable of allowing an end user to recover as much effective data as possible under the condition in which various errors are generated. SOLUTION: A data error recovery system and method uses a plurality of error correction routines 22, 201-203 when trying to provide data usable by an end user. Under a certain situation, the user is demanded to provide further information. Under another situation, data is provided while an error is displayed in an emphasized manner. The present system minimizes an amount of unrecoverable data. The present system can effectively work for data that has been lost due to failure of a CD disk or other storage medium as well as communication failure. |
